A beer called “Troubadour”

Brewery

The brewery was founded in 2000 by 4 qualified brew-engineers who met whilst studying bier brewing in Flanders.

With their experience and recently gained qualifications they all set out to seek work within the brewing world. Finding that the Brewing world is quite secretive and brewing secrets are kept within the brewery walls, the 4 set off to join forces. After a period of trial and testings along with purchasing of necessary equipment the 4 friends soon followed the creation of the “The Musketeers Brewing Company“.  The name Troubadour originates from medieval times when young men used to travel, singing songs and sharing stories.  Keeping this in mind, the goal of the Musketeers Brewing Company is to continue this tradition, by sharing through the variety of beers they produce.

Troubadour Magma

Is an amber coloured beer that has the hints of bitterness which you find in an American IPA, yet is balanced with the clean fruitiness you can find in a Belgian Triple.

The aroma of the Troubadour Magma is indeed fruity – grapefruit to be exact. Such fruity aromas come from the method of dry-hopping which was used to produce this beer.

This is indeed a firm favourite and has been added to my list of favourite beers. Served chilled (not overly), pairs well with chicken, salad and couscous – if anything, somewhat better than a glass of vino! Great towards the end of summer, beginning of Autumn.

For more information about the other beers which Troubadour brew – pop along to their website.

Drop a line or two for more information of what to see in Flanders and Mechelen. Guided tours are available.
